"Whether a student wants to improve their test score or boost their GPA, our face-to-face, personalized programs work. We’re not an 8-week class with 20 students and we’re not a series of online videos you watch when you have time. We get to know our students and create comprehensive plans to both succeed in high school and be ready to meet the challenges of college." On February 2nd, Chattahoochee competed at the University of North Georgia-Dahlonega for the Georgia Regionals tournament and placed 2nd overall which advances the team to State! Good luck to Hooch at their state tournament coming up on March 23rd! On January 19th, Chattahoochee made history by being the first non-Brookwood team to ever win first place at Brookwood's annual Science Olympiad invitational! Congratulations to all our students who diligently worked hard to sweep the competition!
On January 12th, Chattahoochee High School flew all the way to Massachusetts to compete in the 5th annual MIT Science Olympiad Invitational. Our A team not only placed in the top 20, but also medaled in Code Busters (2nd place!), Dynamic Planet (6th place!), and Geological Mapping (6th place!). Congratulations to our hardworking students! Link to official rankings and results here What's kickin' little chickens?
Hooch competed at Walton/GSMST's Science Olympiad invitational on November 17th and brought not one, not two, but three teams! Since this tournament was an open tournament, meaning students could be in different teams for one school, there was no overall team placement. However, Hooch still did very well and had many first time competitors! Final results for events linked here. On October 20th, Hooch brought three teams to compete at the annual UGA Science Olympiad Invitational. Out of 42 teams, our A team held onto that first place once again! Chattahoochee B also did very well, placing 7th and Chattahoochee C not far behind in 10th. Congrats to everyone for a job well done!
Click here to view Final Scores. On October 13th, 2018, Chattahoochee High School competed at Forsyth Central High School for their Division C invitational. This year, there were a total of 42 teams competing and Chattahoochee did extremely well for the first tournament of the year. Let's keep this momentum going!

With a large field of nearly 50 teams, we medaled in 11 events - comparable to GSMST, and far ahead of teams like Milton and Northgate, though still substantially behind Brookwood (Forsyth Central does not award team trophies due to their team structure rules).
Going forward, we'll be competing at the 9th annual Brookwood Invitational on January 13th - the largest yet, with 70 teams in attendance - and the following weekend at MIT, against many of the best teams in the nation. On May 20th, we competed at the 2017 National Tournament, held this year at Wright State University. Chattahoochee qualified for the tournament after finishing second at the Georgia state tournament in March, just 7 points behind perennial state champion Brookwood High School.
Competing as one of the top 60 teams in the nation, we finished in 22nd place overall, close behind Brookwood's school-record 19th place finish, and won the prestigious Lockheed Martin Spirit Award. Selected by the event supervisors and recognizing exemplary sportsmanship, teamwork, and spirit, the award includes $2,000 for the Science Olympiad team. We won medals in 4 of the 23 events (more than any other Georgia high school has won in a single year since 2005):

Medal winner photos for the four events in which we medaled:
Yesterday we finished in second place at the State Tournament held at Emory University, just 7 points behind rival Brookwood High School, nine-time state champion (as of this year), and 33 points ahead of the third place team Walton. We medaled (top 4) in 16 events to Brookwood's 17 (out of 23 total events), and finished first in 6 to their 4.
Finishing in the top two qualifies us for the 2017 National Tournament, held at Wright State University on May 19th-20th, where we hope to top our team's record 15th place finish, set last year in only our second year of qualifying. Medals were awarded to the 1st–4th place teams in each event, and ribbons to the 5th–10th place teams. Our team's medals and ribbons are listed below.

Yesterday we qualified for the State Tournament after finishing in 2nd place out of 24 teams at our regional tournament at the University of North Georgia-Dahlonega. We ended up with 70 points, just 4 points behind eight-time/reigning state champion Brookwood High School. Though they beat us in the end, we were right there beside them the whole way - our teams medaled (top 4) in 20 of 23 events, compared to 21 of 23 for Brookwood. Also, a shoutout to our B team, who finished in 6th place, just one point behind River Ridge High School, and ahead of magnet schools like Wheeler and schools nearly twice our size like Mill Creek.
In seven weeks we'll be competing at the State Tournament, held at Emory University, where we'll be up against 24 teams qualifying at the eight regional tournaments across the state (with the other seven occurring over the next four weeks). The top two teams in the state will be invited to compete at the 2017 Science Olympiad National Tournament, held at Wright State University in Ohio in May.
Note: According to Georgia Science Olympiad policy, the results announced at the awards ceremony are not final, and may be amended if a scoring error is discovered. At awards, Chattahoochee was announced as the first place team by two points. However, after the discovery and correction of an error in Chemistry Lab, Brookwood was ahead of us by 4 points.
Medals were awarded to the 1st-4th place teams in each event, and ribbons to the 5th-10th place teams. Our teams' results are as follows:

:Today the team finished in 7th at the MIT Invitational, surpassing our previous record of 8th place last year. With 71 teams from 15 different states, this was easily the most competitive invitational in the nation, which makes our placement all the more impressive. We defeated many of the best teams in the nation, including the state champions from New York, Massachusetts, and Florida, and finished far ahead of reigning Georgia state champion Brookwood High School (who placed 17th).

Keep up the hard work so we can come away with a win; it's been too long since Brookwood has felt some pressure at home.
Congratulations everyone on taking third place at Brookwood today! Even though we didn't have many of our best competitors due to the last-minute All-State auditions date change, and our top team had only 13 members, we were still able to defeat many of the strongest teams in the state. We ended with 162 points, finishing just 8 points behind GSMST, and beating Milton by 51 points! We may still have a ways to go to catch up to Brookwood (and stay ahead of GSMST) but overall the tournament went well.
Also, a special shoutout to our B and C teams, who placed 22nd and 20th with 10 and 11 team members each! Especially impressive given the tightness in scheduling at this tournament - several people competed in events solo. Coming up next week - MIT Invitational, against many of the top teams in the nation. We'll post our full results on here on Sunday, as well as during awards via Twitter (not sure if we'll be live-tweeting or doing it afterward). Our team's medals are listed below. The tournament scoresheet will be posted here when we get it. Update: Scoresheet!
