Several parts of the website have been updated with new information for the rescheduled tournament date and location (January 27th at Taylor Road Middle School), including the schedule and maps.
Sorry for not getting to this earlier...
As announced to coaches about a week ago, due to inclement weather the original tournament to be held on December 9th had to be canceled. We were able to reschedule the tournament to be on January 27th, 2018 at Taylor Road Middle School (adjacent to Chattahoochee).
This website is in the process of being updated to account for any changes. More information will be announced when it is available.
Thank you for bearing with us through these difficulties.
Since Fulton County Schools has canceled all extracurricular activities due to the weather conditions, the tournament on December 9th has been canceled.
The website has been updated with a lot of new information:
All of this information can be found on the various subpages - here, here, here, and here.
Only three weeks until tournament day!
Due to a few schools being unable to attend, we currently have 49 teams registered. In the interest of minimizing unnecessary burden on event supervisors, we have decided to close registration and have reverted to the previous schedule model, with 6 sessions for builds and up to 14 teams per session for other events. The up-to-date team list, event supervisors list, and tournament schedule can be seen on the Scheduling Info and General & Event Info pages.
Firstly - we have decided to expand to 52 teams. This necessitates 4 extra spaces at the end for builds, and an extra space in each session for all other events, which have both been reflected on the updated schedule posted on the Scheduling Info page (in addition to tentative event rooms and a few minor changes to available sessions).
Event supervising assignments have been posted, and can be found on the General & Event Info page, along with a list of registered teams and tentative homebases.
Expect a significant chunk of logistical info sometime in mid-November - exactly when depends on how busy we are competing at our own tournaments.
The 5th annual Chattahoochee Division B Science Olympiad Invitational will be on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Tournament registration is now open; the form can be found on this website (specifically, here), along with a list of deadlines, a tentative tournament schedule, and other important information. Registration will be limited to the first 48 teams, with additional teams placed on a waitlist; each school may register up to three teams. A list of registered teams can be found here. The registration form closes on October 20th, or when we reach capacity. The registration fee is $75 for the first team and $70 for each additional team. Checks for registration must be received by October 27th to reserve your team’s spots.
The registration form includes fields for schools to list their top six preferences of events to run – schools will be assigned events in October. Schools not selected to run events will need to provide an adult volunteer for tournament day (more info on this nearer to the tournament). After the tournament, teams will receive a digital version of all event materials in addition to hard copies of their tests and score sheets.
Chattahoochee Science Olympiad
Various conflicts having intervened, this took a little longer than expected - sorry about that. Our invitational tournament will be on December 9th, 2017. Registration will open sometime in August. In the meantime, the interest form will remain open, and we encourage you to fill it out if you haven’t already done so.
The aforementioned "more info" is here!
The tournament date will be either December 9th, 2017 or December 16th, 2017 – dependent on building and room reservations and conflicts that we may not yet be aware of. We hope to finalize the date by late July.
Coaches, captains, etc. – if your team is interested in attending our tournament, we'd appreciate it if you could complete this interest form.
Tournament information will be posted on scioly.org in addition to this website.
As the 2017 season ends and 2018 begins, we look forward to seeing some of you - hopefully many of you - at our 5th annual invitational tournament this fall. The invitational section of the website has been reformatted in preparation for next year - or rather, this year.
We don't have a definite date set right now, as we still have to reserve the school building and make sure we aren't conflicting with any Div C invitationals. However, we are tentatively aiming for the second or third weekend in December (9th or 16th). More info should be ready sometime in the next month or so.
Updates will be posted here, as well as on scioly.org. If you have a feed reader you can track this page for posts automatically using the RSS feed button in the sidebar.
